Olive Tree Foundation Announces 2025 Annual High School Scholarships

The Olive Tree Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its annual Grade 12 scholarships, recognizing outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community engagement.

Each year, the Foundation partners with BridgeTO Youth and the MAX Scholarship Fund to award two scholarships to graduating students who have demonstrated resilience and excellence in the face of challenges.

BridgeTO Youth is a not-for-profit organization that supports youth in low-income communities who face socio-economic barriers to high school completion and access to post-secondary education.

This year’s award recipients are:

Fadeelat Shittu – Mohamed & Opheera Nasir Scholarship
Fadeelat has been an active member of BridgeTO for the past two years, showing remarkable growth and determination. Through tutoring and mentorship, she earned a placement at a Toronto hospital and will be pursuing Life Sciences at York University this Fall. She aspires to become a researcher at SickKids Hospital. Beyond academics, Fadeelat volunteers at a food bank and teaches students with autism. Having arrived in Canada as a refugee at age 10, she continues to balance her studies with work to help finance her education.

Karani Sabanathan – Faisal Ali Scholarship
Karani is a dedicated and engaged participant in the BridgeTO community, known for her curiosity and active contributions in tutoring and career events. Coming from a household supported by Ontario Works, she will be the first in her family to attend university. Karani plans to study medicine and aspires to open a family care practice in her Jane-Finch community, where she sees a pressing need for accessible healthcare.

The Olive Tree Foundation congratulates Fadeelat and Karani for their achievements and is honored to support their journeys into higher education. These scholarships embody the Foundation’s mission to invest in the future by empowering youth to overcome barriers and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
