Olive Tree Foundation and Justice For All Canada Announce Public Policy Prize
The Olive Tree Foundation and Justice For All Canada have announced the launch of a new, jointly funded Annual Public Policy Prize. Supported through the Olive Tree Foundation’s SDQJ Endowment Fund of Dr Katherine Bullock, Dr Rabia Khan, friends and family—a fund dedicated to creating lasting community impact—the prize aims to encourage rigorous research and evidence-based policy solutions targeting global human rights crises, systemic discrimination, and the protection of vulnerable minorities.
As a collaborative effort between the two organizations, this newly established annual prize bridges academic inquiry and actionable public policy. It provides an institutional platform for students, emerging scholars, and policy professionals to develop concrete policy instruments that can influence Canadian and international human rights frameworks.
"We are incredibly pleased to partner with Justice For All Canada to establish this prize, which is made possible through the far-reaching impact of the SDQJ Family Fund," said Naeem Siddiqi, Vice-Chair of the Olive Tree Foundation. "Effective, enduring advocacy requires a solid foundation of credible research and sound policy analysis. By leveraging our endowment, we are investing in the next generation of policy thinkers who can move beyond raising awareness and focus on structural solutions that protect human dignity."
The Public Policy Prize invites submissions that examine critical issues such as global human rights violations, state accountability, international legal mechanisms, and the intersection of Canadian foreign and domestic policies with international human rights standards. Justice For All Canada, known for its focus on defending marginalized communities—including the Rohingya, Uyghur, Kashmiri, and Palestinian populations—views this prize as a natural evolution of its mission to foster systemic justice.
This joint funding arrangement reflects a shared, deepened commitment to fostering community capacity, public policy literacy, and human rights advocacy within Canada.
