Olive Tree Foundation Awards Scholarships for 2022

The Olive Tree Foundation has awarded two outstanding high school students from the Toronto neighbourhood of Regent Park with scholarships for their academic achievements and leadership abilities.

Kewthar Abubakar was awarded the Faisal Ali Scholarship Award and Marwa Rasoli was awarded the Mohamed and Opheera Nasir Scholarship Award.

Both students are active volunteers in Regent Park.

Marwa Rasoli is a Jarvis Collegiate Institute student and she will be attending George Brown College in the Fall.

“When parents, teachers and role models support students it helps them a lot. Having a good support system will not only motivate the student to do better in school but it will also help with their confidence in themselves,” says Marwa Rasoli.

Kewthar Abubakar is a Jarvis Collegiate Institute student. She will be attending Wilfrid Laurier University in the Fall.

“Parents, teachers and mentors help to enrich a student along their journey to find their place in this society. Without this important support, the path of a student would be difficult,” adds Kewthar Abubakar.
