The Muneeb and Fanieza Nasir Family Fund embodies the couple's unwavering dedication to nurturing and empowering Canada's Muslim community. Their lifelong commitment to giving back is rooted in a deep desire to strengthen Islamic organizations and support initiatives that uplift their community.

Fanieza Nasir: A Pillar of Education and Support

Fanieza, a dedicated educator and community volunteer, has profoundly impacted children's education and championed the cause of refugees and newcomers.  

For over 20 years, she nurtured young minds as an Islamic School teacher at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto.  Her passion extended beyond the classroom, as she previously was a facilitator of a Parent-Child Drop-in program and was a leader of the Muslim Girls Guide group at the Mosque.  

Furthermore, Fanieza played a key role in the yearly Islamic Summer Camp at the Islamic Institute of Toronto.

Her compassion extends far and wide.  

Fanieza actively supported the settlement of Kosovar refugees in the 1990s.  Her leadership shone through when she was a member of Bridges of Mercy, a non-profit dedicated to sponsoring and resettling Syrian refugees in Canada.  This successful organization continues to maintain strong relationships with the families they helped resettle, a testament to Fanieza's enduring dedication.

Born in Guyana, Fanieza's educational background encompasses Business Administration from Centennial College and Early Childhood Education from Seneca College.


Muneeb Nasir: A Leader in Philanthropy, Interfaith Dialogue, and Community Engagement

Muneeb is a highly respected figure within the Canadian Muslim community.  He is a renowned philanthropist, writer, and interfaith advocate admired for his vast knowledge and active participation in religious and current affairs.

His leadership extends to various organizations.  He founded and chairs the Olive Tree Foundation, a Toronto-based endowment foundation that grants support to worthy causes.  Muneeb also co-chaired the National Muslim Christian Liaison Committee, fostering understanding and cooperation between these two communities.

Furthermore, he serves as the Executive Director of the Cordoba Centre for Civic Engagement and Leadership, which promotes interfaith dialogue and service projects, including the Muslims For White Ribbon Campaign, Bridges of Mercy, and the Indigenous-Muslim Forum.

His dedication extends to academia, where he serves on the Muslim Advisory Board at the University of Toronto's Emmanuel College and advises the Scarborough Muslim Community campaign for the Scarborough Hospital Foundation.  

Muneeb is also the Managing Editor of the online magazine IQRA.ca and a Canadian correspondent for AboutIslam.net.

Beyond his leadership roles, Muneeb has served as a long-standing Khatib (religious leader) in various GTA mosques, including Masjid Toronto and the University of Toronto's Muslim student club.  His sermons and prayers have inspired generations of Muslims.

Born in Guyana, Muneeb was educated at the University of Toronto and the University of Guelph in Natural Sciences, Agrology, and Information Technology. 

His impressive career includes a distinguished tenure in private industry, project management, and senior business/systems analysis for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.  He further holds professional certifications in Not-for-Profit Management and Interfaith Understanding.

Muneeb's extensive experience extends to various boards and committees.  He was a founding member and first president of the Islamic Institute of Toronto, a founding board member of the Muslim Chaplaincy at the University of Toronto and Masjid Toronto.

He has also served on the Steering Committee of the Parliament of the World's Religions, the Honorary Board of Governors of Scouts Canada, and various committees at the Scarborough Hospital.  Additionally, Muneeb has held editorial positions for several Islamic publications.
